The Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Marketers Association has assured of no shortage of LPG despite its decision to boycott lifting of gas from some Bulk Oil Distributing Companies.
According to its Vice President, Gabriel Kumi, there are lots of BDCs in the country that its members are lifting gas from.
“We don't have anything against lifting LPG from Atuabo [Gas Processing Plant]. But those ones at Tema, we specify we are not going to do business with them and nothing will change that stand of ours. There are a lot - about six or seven BDCs that are selling LPG. Since we boycotted them on the 12th [August 2024], there's still lots of LPG in the system for all of us to load”.
“There's no shortage of LPG in town. So, these two companies, nobody should deceive you that boycotting these two depots at Tema will create any shortage in the nation…that will never happen”, he assured.
To him, fortunately Sentuo Refinery has just started producing “and they are also going to distribute a lot of LPG, so Ghanaians should be rest assured”.
“We have invested hugely in this industry and we are not going to do anything to jeopardise the invetsments”.
He also advised the NPA to be serious with its regulatory activities.
“We have never said anywhere that we are not lifting gas from Sage Petroleum at Atuabo. Out letter was specific to Tema depots, we didn't mention Atuabo, and the time for use to even go back to Atuabo is 26th [August 2024] which is not right yet. so why is he [Obed Boachie, Head of Regulation at NPA] jumping the gun?? This propaganda of the regulator must stop, I mean you should be more serious than this”
