The Vice Chairperson of the Ghana Football Association’s Normalisation Committee has retracted her earlier remarks that the committee is in possession of a sponsorship deal for the premier league.
Lucy Quist posted on her Facebook page Monday afternoon that “I erroneously said the GFA has the Zylofon contract. The GFA does not.”
“For this error I apologize. I hope this clarifies the matter. Thank you,” she added.
Her post was a clarification of what she told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show earlier Monday that she had seen the GFA’s contract with Zylofon cash for sponsorship of the Ghana Premier League.
Asked whether she had seen the said contract, Mrs. Quist responded to the host, Daniel Dadzie that “yes,” she has.
Her position on the show contradicted comments of the spokesperson of the Normalisation Committee, Dan Kweku Yeboah, who said early on that the committee cannot locate the contract.
Background
In May, 2018, the GFA, then headed by the former GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi – who has been banned for life by FIFA -- secured a sponsorship deal with Zylofon cash.
The details of the contract were however not revealed to the public.
After the GFA executive committee was ousted following an investigative documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas which revealed corruption in football management, the normalisation committee took over management of Ghana football.
The committee has since been on the goal to restore football activities to normalcy. Their tenure expires in March, 2019.
