Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has received some disappointing news from the treatment room ahead of Tuesday's last-16 first leg Copa del Rey match at home against Malaga as he will have to make do without the services of Angel Di Maria due to injury.
The Argentina international sustained a thigh problem in training in the last week of 2011 and Madrid has now confirmed on its official website that Di Maria hasn't recovered in time to make the match squad for the game at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 23-year-old has been in excellent form in the 2011-12 campaign, and has already set up 13 goals in 14 league appearances for Los Blancos.
Di Maria is likely to be replaced by former Espanyol star Jose Callejon in the starting XI on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, defenders Sergio Ramos and Ricardo Carvalho both also miss out on the encounter with Malaga due to injury problems.
