President John Mahama addressed a Ghana-Italy Business Forum at the ongoing Milan Expo 2015 last Friday.
The Forum was part of activities for the Ghana Day Celebration at the Expo.
A statement from Flag Staff House made available to the Ghana News Agency said President Mahama had earlier participated in a flag raising ceremony at the Expo Centre to commemorate the Ghana Day.
The President is at the Expo with Trade Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister for Food & Agriculture Fifi Kwetey, and the Secretary to the President Ambassador Kwesi Quartey.
In his remarks President Mahama announced that Ghana, through the new Transformation Agenda, had positioned itself to increase the volume of cocoa processing in the country, and had started achieving significant results in that direction.
“During this Expo, we will be bringing home to visitors and interested businesses why Ghana is the true Cocoa Country, and how in the next few years, thanks to our Young Cocoa Farmers Project, we will increase the volume of cocoa beans harvested each season and ready for processing”, he said.
President Mahama observed that the theme for the event, “Feeding the planet, Energy for Life” dovetailed well into Ghana’s own theme at the expo, "Cocoa: Your wealth, health, and heritage".
He said with over 150 sovereign countries participating in the expo, it was heart-warming to know that the day had been reserved for the celebration of Ghana, and invited all to come and have a taste of Ghanaian foods, her culinary culture and experience the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality.
“As you go through the Ghana Pavilion, you will notice the many opportunities that Ghana offers to every investor”, he said, and urged investors to take advantage of the many opportunities that Ghana had to offer.
