The NDC flagbearer John Mahama has criticised the governing NPP for what he perceives as a biased approach to regional development.
He accused the government of focusing resources on areas that favour the party electorally.
Mahama contends that this selective allocation of resources disadvantages regions that did not predominantly support the NPP, thereby hindering balanced national development.
Mahama voiced these concerns while touring the Oti Region on Monday, November 4.
He highlighted the importance of fair development across all regions, stressing that every Ghanaian community deserves equal access to infrastructure and resources, regardless of political preferences.
He argued that equitable development is essential for national cohesion and progress.
During his address to residents, Mahama expressed disappointment with the regional disparities in resource distribution.
He pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritize underserved areas, including the Oti Region, to ensure more balanced and inclusive development.
Speaking at Biakoye, Mahama also remarked that President Akufo-Addo appears to be coming to terms with the possibility of an NPP loss in the upcoming election.
Mahama suggested that this acknowledgement might explain the government’s alleged bias in development allocation as they attempt to consolidate support in certain areas.
“NPP failed to build the regional hospitals because Krachi East indigenes didn’t vote for them. NDC will uphold its promise to Krachi East in terms of infrastructure.”
