President John Dramani Mahama has urged members of the newly constituted Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy to play a pivotal role in restoring Ghana’s economic credibility and competitiveness.
He made the call during the swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House.
“Our task now is correction without amnesia, learning from both our successes and our failures,” President Mahama said. “I want you to be part of the solutions and ultimately part of the success story.”
He emphasised that the Group’s counsel would be central to rebuilding credibility, restoring fiscal discipline, attracting investment, re-anchoring expectations and re-establishing Ghana as a serious, predictable and competitive economy.
“This is not simply about recovery,” the President stressed. “It is about institutional reform, structural transformation, and a permanent reset of our economic governance culture.”
President Mahama described the advisory body as a platform to draw on expertise from academia, the private sector and public service, with the aim of ensuring that policy decisions are informed, strategic and sustainable.
