Spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has accused President John Mahama’s government of implementing contradictory economic policies that fail to benefit ordinary Ghanaians.
In an interview on JoyNews, he insisted that despite the decline in the inflation rate, the prices of goods remain high.
“Ghanaians are witnessing a government that talks of stabilising the economy, yet every day, the prices of essential goods continue to rise. Inflation may have dropped on paper, but the reality in the markets tells a different story,” Mr Aboagye said AM Show on Friday, December 12.
He highlighted the disparity between official economic indicators and citizens’ everyday experiences.
“Is it not strange that while the dollar has reduced from ¢14 to ¢10, prices at Abossey Okai and other markets have gone up across the board? Clearly, the system is contradictory and not delivering for the people,” he argued.
Mr Aboagye further contended that the Mahama administration’s policies were inconsistent and lacked coordination.
“We are seeing a situation where monetary and fiscal policies contradict each other, leaving ordinary Ghanaians to bear the brunt of decisions made in offices far removed from the realities of daily life,” he stated.
He called on the government to ensure that economic measures translate into tangible benefits for citizens, stressing that policy success should be measured by its impact on households, not merely on official statistics.
“A government’s duty is to make life better for its people, not to present an economic story that exists only in reports,” he concluded.
