On Sunday, President John Dramani Mahama hailed the contributions of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, towards national development.
He praised the Asantehene for his wise counsel and support, which facilitated his achievements in his first term as President.
President Mahama gave the commendations on Sunday when he joined the Otumfuo and Asanteman to celebrate Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The President cited some projects executed in the Ashanti Region during his first term, such as roads, markets, schools, hospitals, extension of electricity and water to many homes.
President Mahama pledged to consult the Asantehene even more especially at a time Ghanaians were witnessing the worst crisis in Ghana’s history
He also promised to prioritize the completion of the Sewua Hospital Project to ease pressure on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and equally finish the Afari Military hospital.
“Lately, I have heard you complain about under development in the Ashanti Region, and rightly so because as you have said the Ashanti Region is the second most populous in Ghana. You can count on me,” the President stated.
President Mahana also commended the Ashanti Region for their votes which contributed to his massive victory and the smooth transfer of power that had stamped Ghana’s image as a beacon of democracy.
The Akwasidae of Sunday, January 19th, 2025, is the first in 2025 and President Mahama’s attendance is the first since his re-election.
