President Mahama has inaugurated the Private Sector Advisory Council, which he promised during his initial policy address two weeks ago.
The Council, which will address strategic issues affecting private sector development, was outdoored earlier today at the Castle.
“Ghana needs to become a much more competitive investment destination to accelerate the growth and transformation of its economy and the role and inputs of government, the private sector and our development partners will be very crucial in this effort" President Mahama stated.
“Our objective is to promote Ghana’s growth and transformation into a formidable middle income country,” he stated.
He said the government, as was elaborated by the late President John Mills is committed to working with the private sector to transform the economy of Ghanaians,assuring he is still committed towards meeting the same aspiration.
The 9-member Council chaired by the President comprises heads of 8 various business associations including:
Nana Owusu Afari - Association of Ghana Industries, AGI
Terry Darko - Ghana Employers Association, GEA
George Ofori - Ghana Union of Traders Association, GUTA
Nana Osei Bonsu - Private Enterprise Foundation, PEF
Ralph Ameyaw - Council of Indigenous Business Association, CIBA
Anthony Sikpa - Federation of Association of Ghanaian Exporters, FAGE
Seth Agyei Baah - Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, GCCI
Konadu Asare Yamoah - Ghana Book Publishers Association, GBPA
