President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing Ghana’s road infrastructure by prioritising the construction of vital bridges to improve connectivity and facilitate trade across the country.
He emphasised that addressing infrastructure challenges is crucial for stimulating economic growth and ensuring the smooth movement of goods and people.
Speaking in Tamale on Saturday, 22nd March, as part of his ongoing Thank You Tour, President Mahama assured residents of the Northern Region and beyond that his government remains dedicated to bridging infrastructural gaps that have long hindered trade and regional integration.
He highlighted the importance of key projects aimed at linking communities and facilitating commerce.
“We will fast-track the construction of critical bridges to strengthen connectivity and promote trade. These include the White Volta bridge at Nawuni on the Tamale-Mankarigu-Yagaba road and the White Volta bridge on the Junayili-Pusiga road,” he announced.
He stressed that these developments would not only integrate remote areas into the national economy but also boost agricultural and commercial activities.
In addition to these major bridge projects, President Mahama revealed plans to conduct feasibility studies for a Yendi bypass.
This initiative, he explained, is aimed at improving urban mobility and easing congestion on essential trade routes, thereby reducing travel time and enhancing logistics for businesses operating in the region.
The President further disclosed that his administration would also oversee the construction of the Oti River bridge at Saboba and the Bimbilla-Nakpali bridge on the White Volta.
He reiterated that these projects form part of a broader strategy to modernise Ghana’s transport infrastructure, ensuring that communities remain well-connected to foster economic development.
