The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has pledged to prioritise the rehabilitation of the road network within the Kpone-Katamanso constituency if elected to office in the upcoming general elections.
Mr Mahama made this promise while addressing a mini rally at the Kpone Methodist Park as part of his Greater Accra regional tour.
He said despite the numerous industries and companies located within the constituency; its roads remained deplorable.
“Kpone-Katamanso has some of the worst road conditions in the region despite having many companies that boost the economy. If given the mandate, fixing the roads here will be a priority for my government,” he stated.
Prior to the mini-rally, Mahama called on the Kpone Traditional Council, where he met the traditional authorities to discuss issues affecting the community.
He highlighted the importance of the constituency, not only as an industrial hub but also as a key player in the region’s economic growth, stressing that better infrastructure was essential for boosting development.
Mr Mahama said improving the road networks within the constituency would also facilitate business operations and enhance residents’ quality of life.
“Good roads are crucial for economic activities, and we cannot allow an industrial area like Kpone-Katamanso to remain in such a state,” he emphasised.
Residents and party faithful who attended the rally welcomed Mr Mahama’s commitment, expressing hope that their long-standing concerns about poor infrastructure would be addressed.
