The patch of road stretching from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Caprice in Accra is to be named after one of the principal actors in Ghana’s struggle for independence, George Grant, popularly called Paa Grant.
Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hackman Owusu Agyemang disclosed this in Parliament on Tuesday when members paid tribute to the man often referred to as the ‘Father of Gold Coast politics’.
Paa Grant, who was a prominent businessman, formed the United Gold Coast Convention together with R.S. Blay, J. B. Danquah and Ako Adjei in 1947.
The MPs lauded Paa Grant for offering his resources for the emancipation of Gold Coast citizens, but expressed regret that not much had been done to honour him.
