Makeup Ghana, a professional body established  to create a unifying platform for stakeholders in the fast-growing beauty industry in Ghana has in collaboration with its partner, First Choice Hair and Beauty, announced nominations for the 2023 edition of the Ghana Beauty Awards (GBA), which is scheduled for September 2023.
It is under the theme, 'Celebrating Excellence; Finding Perfection in Imperfection.'
The nominations which has been running  for some time now will end on July 15, 2023.
According to Rebecca Donkor, the CEO of Makeup Ghana, the company encouraged young artists, including beauticians, companies, and other professionals to participate in the glamorous awards, to take advantage of its numerous benefits and life-changing opportunities to showcase their talents.

Over the years, Ghana’s beauty industry has had several outstanding pioneers, pacesetters, and game-changers who, through their creative thinking, innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, have contributed significantly to the sector’s growth. However, many of these trailblazers and game-changers have been disregarded.
“This year’s GBA shall reward outstanding beauty practitioners, entrepreneurs, promoters, brands, and manufacturers, among others in a total of 34 Categories, and interested candidates must look at the categories, fill out and submit their nomination form online", Ms Donkor said.
However, all applicants must follow the rules for the awards, which include nominations, shortlisting, the final announcement, judging, and public voting, she said.
The GBA is an annual event for the beauty industry that honours industry pioneers, top professionals, and up-and coming talent, as well as companies and brands that contribute to its growth.
Established in 2015, Makeup Ghana is a social enterprise that provides a unifying platform for Ghana’s rapidly expanding beauty industry. Its mission is to unite makeup artists, cosmetics brands, beauty retailers, and fashion & beauty content creators in the country under one roof to advance the industry.
First Choice Hair and Beauty is one of the industry’s most prominent brands, and one of the largest and most experienced fast-growing hair and beauty salons in Ghana.

To achieve its objective, Makeup Ghana organizes events, seminars, workshops and capacity-building forums for players in the beauty industry.
Chief amongst the many events are the Ghana Beauty Awards (formerly Ghana Makeup Awards) – since 2016, which rewards excellence in the industry; and the Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair (AMB Fair) – since 2017, which brings together product manufacturers (brand owners), wholesalers, retailers and consumers to trade, interact with each other, find common-grounds and champion a unique agenda.
In the area of capacity building, they organize several training programmes such as CBT Facilitator/Assessor Certification for trainers and other players in the industry. In addition, Makeup Ghana has set up the College of Beauty, Arts and Entrepreneurship (CBAE) to further enhance the knowledge and skill levels of players in the beauty Industry.
To further raise the level of competence of practitioners starting with makeup artists, the organization helped to source for funding and championed the development of the first-ever national curricula in Makeup Artistry at both Certificate I and II Levels under the National TVET Qualification framework.
