The Mamprugu Youth Association (MYA) in the West Mamprugu District has threatened to take legal actions against another youth group - the Association of All Mamprusi Youth.
The MAYA has accused the Association of All Mamprusi Youth (AAMY) of attempting to bring the name of the people of Mamprugu into dispute for political purposes.
The AAMY is said to have called for the removal of the Deputy Northern Regional Minister Nasamu Asabigi for allegedly orchestrating the removal of the DCE for Mamprusi West and supporting Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ bid in the NDC flag bearership contest.
At a Press Conference in Walewale to react to the call by the Association of All Mamprusi Youth, the Vice president of the MAYA Mr Yidana Peter said, the call for the removal of the Deputy Northern Minister does not emanate from the association or their representatives but unknown group of people who want to create confusion among the youth of Mamprugu.
He said, the MAYA which is the legitimate mouth piece of the Mamprugu Youth disassociates itself completely from the press statement issue by the so-called “Association of All Mamprugu Youth”.
Mr Yidana noted that, the MAYA is an independent non-partisan and non-religious association of the youth of Mamprugu whose aim is to unite the youth of Mamprugu and coordinate their efforts towards the development of Mamprugu Traditional area.
“As a non-partisan association, the issuance of press statements regarding partisan politics is not and will not be part of our agenda”.
