Yaw Tawiah, a 19-year-old unemployed, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by the Juaso Circuit Court for stealing his aunt’s electrical appliances valued at GH¢600.
Tawiah, who pleaded guilty to one count of stealing, was convicted on his own plea.
Chief Inspector Stephen Opare, prosecuting, told the court that Nana Serwaah lived with her nephew at Konongo and in 2004, Serwaah travelled to Accra and returned some days later to detect that her blender, rechargeable lamp, iron and video deck were missing and Tawiah was no where to be found.
Tawiah never showed up again until January when he was spotted at Konongo by her aunt who informed the police leading to his arrest.
During interrogation, Tawiah admitted stealing the items and said he sold them in Kumasi.
