Awudu Adams, a 22-year-old unemployed who attempted passing seven wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and 10 sticks of Rothmans cigarettes to suspects on remand at the Tema Habour Police station has been arrested.Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Tema Regional Public Affairs Officer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that on November 17, this year at about 1915 hours a police officer patrolling around the cells saw Adams hovering around the area.He said the policeman was put on duty around the area because they were reliably informed that Adams would be sending the cell inmates, illegal substances through the ventilation duct.Chief Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said the personnel on duty called for reinforcement after he spotted Adams patrolling the area and tying a substance he removed from his pocket to a rope hanging from the ventilation duct. The police engaged in a tug of war with the cell inmates to retrieve the substance when the rope started receding into the cells with the substance tied to it.Chief Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said the police have impounded the exhibits for further investigation to enable them prosecute those involved in the act.Source: GNA
