The Adabraka District Court has remanded Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, into police custody in connection with a widely circulated assault video and additional allegations of sextortion.

The Ghana Police Service, through its Criminal Investigation Department (CID), arrested the suspect on Thursday, January 15, following an intelligence-led operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team, after the video circulated widely on social media.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the woman, who previously lived together, had a history of disagreements that escalated into verbal confrontations and, ultimately, physical assault.

According to a post shared on Facebook by the Ghana Police Service, the suspect was brought before the court on Friday, January 16, as investigations into the matter continue.

Presiding over the case, Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo ordered that Danful be held in police custody pending further enquiries.

The court directed that he reappears on Tuesday, January 21, to enable investigators to complete their work and advise the court accordingly.

"The suspect was put before the Adabraka District Court on Friday 16th January 2026, where the court, presided over by Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, ordered that he be remanded into police custody to reappear on 21st January 2026."

The remand follows an earlier incident captured in a viral video that has drawn significant public attention.

"The remand follows ongoing investigations into an earlier incident captured in a viral video, as well as fresh allegations that the suspect threatened to circulate intimate images and engaged in acts consistent with sextortion," the post concluded.
