An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded into police custody Mohammed Osafo, a Ghanaian resident in Amsterdam for attempting to export 100 pellets of cocaine out of the country.Osafo whose plea was not taken is being held for attempted exportation of narcotic drugs without licence.Superintendent of Police, Mr J.K. Abraham told the court that on February 6, this year, at about 8:30 pm, Osafo arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam.While going through departure formalities, officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) suspected him of carrying drugs in his stomach.Prosecution said the NACOB officials escorted him to the 37 Military Hospital for an x-ray examination, which proved that he had some foreign materials in his stomach.He said Osafo was therefore arrested and under observation for two days he expelled 100 pellets of whitish substances suspected to be cocaine.The prosecution said during interrogation, Osafo stated that the substance was given to him by one Kwame aka Wofa Siaka at Kwashieman, near "Been To" area to be delivered to one Joe for a fee of 3,000 Euros.In another development, the court remanded into police custody Kwabena Opoku Manu for attempting to export 90 pellets of cocaine to Spain.Manu whose plea was not taken would reappear on February 26.The accused was arrested at KIA on February 6, this year, when he was going through boarding formalities.
