52-year-old employee of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA)in Winneba, Mr Kofi Tei Dortse, was on Tuesday found dead in a tank containing bitumen near the Highways premises.Assistant Superintendent of Police Francis Yiribaare, Winneba District Police Commander, told the GNA that investigations revealed that Mr Dortse reported for duty in the morning but was not seen again. He said his trousers, sandals and shirt were found near the container by some neighbours and when they looked into it they saw his body in the bitumen.
Mr Yiribaare said police saw a ladder suspected to have been used by the deceased to climb to the top of tank and saw a five-gallon container in the tank. The discovery of the ladder and the gallon made the police to believe that the decease was going to steal the bitumen that is in high demand on the market. He said it took officials of the National Fire Service in Winneba three hours to cut open a portion of the tank before the body could be removed from the bitumen.Source: GNA
