An Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah on Thursday sentenced Kofi Latevi 43, a farmer who assaulted and harmed his younger brother to three months imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea.
The court in addition, ordered Latevi to pay GH¢200 (Two million cedis) fine or in default serve 12 months imprisonment.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kate Ogyiri told the court that the complainant, Anthony Yaw Latevi was a junior brother of the accused at Gahian village near Mepom.
She said during the morning of May 6, this year, the accused and his friend Kwadwo Gogomango left home to drink palm wine at one Kwabena Basare's farm.
The prosecutor said on their return, Yaw heard the accused saying they drank the palm wine without the knowledge of Basare and confronted the accused for their action.
She said the accused denied and a quarrel ensued between them during which accused took a knife and inflicted wounds on Yaw's left palm and upper lip.
The prosecutor said inhabitants of the village were attracted to the scene and accused was arrested and handed over to the police and after investigations charged with the offence.Source: GNA
