An angry mob linked to one of the factions in the Bawku chieftaincy dispute has lynched a man at Saabongari near the Bawku town. Faisal Musah was returning from Misiga, a suburb of Bawku when the mob attacked him. The cause of his attack is unknown, but police instigations are continuing to establish facts and arrest the perpetrators. Tensions were said have mounted over the killing with some people threatening revenge. But security has been beefed up to prevent the escalation of further violence. The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Alhassan Samari, told Joy News that everything was being done to quell the tensions and maintain peace and security in the area. The Bawku township and its surrounding areas are currently under curfew following violent chieftaincy clashes between Mamprusis and Kusasis.
