The Market Women Association of Ghana has given the Accra Mayor a fourteen day ultimatum for him to resign his post.
They alleged Alfred Vanderpuije is incompetent and must give way for a more productive and efficient person.
Their ultimatum follows the decision by the assembly to get rid of hawkers on the streets of Accra.
Spokesperson of the group Fred Opoku claims the AMA action has rendered over 15,500 hawkers jobless, a major reason for him to resign.
He told Joy News the AMA failed to provide alternative markets for the sacked hawkers.
This he insists has deepened the hardship of members of the Association.
Frederick Opoku warned that the Mayor has 14 days to resign or will face the wrath of the market women.
