Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah, has disclosed that plans are underway to digitalise her outfit by the end of the first quarter, this year.
She explained that this is part of measures to improve the scheme as well as ensure a spike in the loan recovery rate.
"We couldn't do this in the past, but we are giving ourselves up to the end of the first quarter, MASLOC will have to go digital and these are some of the things that will eliminate errors that we committed in the past in order to improve on our recovery," she said on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Her comment was part of discussions on the Super Morning Show on how to improve on the recovery rate of loans disbursed by MASLOC after she, in an earlier interview with JoyNews, lamented over poor recovery rates of loan facilities, recorded by the institution.
According to her, apart from the Ashanti Region, low recovery rates have been recorded across the country. She cited, for instance, the cases of the Volta and Oti regions which recorded 11% and 16% recovery rates respectively, and assured that MASLOC is putting in place, measures to put this in check.
In addition to digitilsating the operations of the institution, she indicated that MASLOC will improve on training, and capacity building of staff.
"We have to also intensify our monitoring, we have to intensify our education, sensitisation, intensify visits we pay to our clients, regional managers will also be given targets and staff will also be motivated to give off their best, and I believe these, if implemented, will clearly give us the best results," she said.
