The Executive Chairman of McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley, has decided against sponsoring the Ghana Premier League due to concerns over "gambling".
Betpawa ended their headline sponsorship of the league midway through last season, with the exact reasons yet to be disclosed.
The Ghana Football Association is now searching for a replacement ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, which begins on September 6.
McDan Group is known for its contributions to sports, including the construction of astro-turfs to support football development.
"I can sponsor the Ghana Premier League but the gambling is too much," McKorley told Asempa FM.
"The match-fixing is collapsing our game. You will watch a game and how a goalkeeper will concede a goal is funny and it is because someone must win a bet.
"Football is a nice game but our players cannot play for years. It is about time we sanitise our game," he added.
Last season's final round of results raised concerns about the integrity of the league, particularly due to the nature of goals conceded.
Hearts of Oak's 3-2 comeback win over Bechem United, which secured their stay in the top flight, drew significant attention.
Ashgold and Inter Allies are the clubs found guilty of match-fixing in 2022 and ultimately demoted to Divison Two.
