The National Media Commission says the Narcotics Control Board must be held partly responsible for the media's disclosure of the identities of the two British girls being held for possessing narcotics. The media has been criticised for publishing pictures and names of the two 16 year olds. International Advocacy group "Fair Trials Abroad" has called for the prosecution of all culpable media houses. The Ghana Journalists Association says its disciplinary committee will look into the matter. But the Executive Secretary of the NMC, George Sarpong says in as much as the media was wrong to publish pictures and names of the girls, it is more worrying that an agency of the state made the names available to the press.Meanwhile Barbara Sackey, an attorney at the Attorney General's Department says any journalist who further publishes the identities of the girls would be prosecuted.
