Five persons have been shortlisted to take part in the first Airtel Trace Music Stars music reality show in Ghana.
The five were selected from thousands of interested persons who auditioned for the competition by calling Airtel shortcode 533 between October 7, 2014 and December 10, 2014.
The finalists, according to judges of the reality show, Kafui Dey, Raquel and Edem, were selected strictly based on the ability to sing.
Interestingly, for the first time in the history of music reality shows in Ghana, the list of the Top 5 finalists is dominated by females. Four of the selected contestants are female.
The Top 5 are, 1. 33100510 - Francis Tengey, 2. 33100398 - Cassandra Tettey, 3. 33101351 - Linda Goraseh, 4. 33100480 - Princess Dartey, and 5. 33100303 - Angela Ackim.
The Top 5 will now be recorded to compete in a televised series this month, from which one winner will be selected.
The winner from Ghana will then take part in the Pan African Airtel Trace Music Star competition involving 13 other countries at the end of February 2015.
The winner of the Ghana edition of the Airtel TRACE Music Star will walk away with GHc50,000 and the ticket to compete at the Pan Africa event.
The Pan African winner will get a universal record deal and mentoring with Senegalese-born international music star, Akon.
