Media personality and life coach Shed Lamptey has shared his views on marital roles, stating that certain responsibilities in marriage belong strictly to men.

Speaking on the JoyPrime Studios programme Brotherhood, Shed Lamptey said “men responsibilities are solely for men”, explaining that these include providing financially and taking responsibility within the home.

During the discussion, he also shared his perspective on the role of women in marriage, describing the woman as a helpmate who supports her partner. According to him, a woman should “fit into your weakness”.

Shed further stated that women are designed to complement men, adding that “women are designed to be with men who align their steps”.

He also stressed the importance of women being self sufficient, advising that every woman should be “financially fit,” “very intellected,” and skilled in areas such as cooking so that she can support her partner.

The discussion also touched on the issue of shared responsibilities in marriage. Shed argued that when men and women share responsibilities equally, it could create an imbalance in the relationship.

He noted that “when responsibilities are shared, it makes the woman feel ‘she’s on the same scale’”.

Shed concluded by stressing the need for mutual respect and understanding between couples. According to him, appreciation and reciprocity are essential in any relationship.

“men also hate it when they treat women good and then the woman doesn’t reciprocate,” he said.

He added that partners must recognise and appreciate each other’s contributions, noting that “every matured woman will want to help a responsible man”.

The conversation has since sparked debate around the roles of men and women in marriage, while highlighting the importance of communication, mutual respect and understanding in marital relationships.
