A Mercedes Benz A140 vehicle on Friday morning burnt beyond recognition at the Ahodwo Roundabout in Kumasi.
The disaster occurred during Friday morning rush hour on the busy road intersection.
Owner and driver of the car, Attobra Kyeremateng, who was the only occupant, told JoyNews the incident happened 30minutes after he had left home.
He was alerted of sparks beneath the vehicle. He pulled over in an attempt to extinguish the fire but the engine went into flames.

“I observed some smoke while on my way. I stopped to check but realized the smoke had stopped. Five minutes after taking off again, I saw the smoke again and stopped to use the fire extinguisher to control the fire from under the car, but that could not contain the blaze,” he narrated.

Fire officers arrived to put out the fire but nothing could be salvaged.
The vehicle is third-party insured.
“In everything, we should give thanks to God… since God has saved me, we give thanks to God,” said Mr Kyeremateng.
