The Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, has appealed to ministers of the church to rid themselves of corrupt beliefs and practices.
He said since the inception of the church in 1835, the leadership had been involved in propagating the true and unadulterated gospel and that the time had come for ministers to revisit that Wesleyan heritage of doing mission.
Most Rev Aboagye-Mensah was addressing the opening session of the second International Mission’s Conference of the church in Kumasi on Tuesday.
The four-day conference is on the theme, “Methodism and Modern Mission” and has participants coming from Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Benin and the United States of America (USA).
The Presiding Bishop affirmed that the leadership of the church was determined to building strong and vibrant structures for effective evangelism to ensure a sustainable growth of Methodism.
He said as a result, the church was liaising with the leadership of youth groups and fellowships to impress upon their members to be disciplined and always abide by the tenets and principles of Methodism.
