The maiden edition of the Michael Adangba Legacy Music Festival recorded an impressive turnout, reaffirming the legendary musician’s enduring influence on Ghana’s music and cultural heritage.
Organised by Kacstone Records, the festival brought together fans, music lovers and cultural enthusiasts from across the country for a night of rhythm, celebration and heartfelt tribute to Michael Adangba, one of Ghana’s most revered custodians of traditional music.
Taking centre stage, Michael Adangba delivered a captivating and electrifying performance, thrilling an ecstatic crowd with a rich selection of his signature traditional songs that reflected his deep-rooted cultural identity and musical brilliance.
The festival featured a vibrant mix of live performances, interactive sessions and cultural displays, cutting across ethnic, religious, geographical and political divides to promote unity, harmony and shared cultural pride among patrons.
Adding an international flavour, the maiden edition attracted representation from neighbouring Burkina Faso, including musicians, clearing agents and other officials who travelled to be part of the historic event.
The occasion was further graced by prominent dignitaries, including the District Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana West District, Hon. Akurugu Stephen Aeke Akurugo, former Member of Parliament for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Hon. Abuga Pele, former DCE Hon. Gerald Ataogye, a representative of the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the President of the Alamgumbe Association, Bolga. Their presence underscored the cultural significance of the festival.

A major highlight of the night was the honouring of six distinguished legendary musicians for their immense contributions to traditional music.
Special recognition was also accorded to the Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, for his commitment to preserving Ghana’s traditional heritage. He was acknowledged for becoming the first public figure to openly declare his African traditional beliefs during his ministerial vetting, as well as for his background as a traditional drummer in his youth.
In a statement issued on behalf of the legendary musician, the organisers expressed appreciation to fans, invited guests, media organisations, security agencies, partners and collaborators whose collective efforts ensured the success of the event.
“Together, we made history, transcending ethnic, religious, geographical, and political boundaries to unite as one people on a shared platform of music and culture. The overwhelming support and peaceful atmosphere throughout the festival reaffirm the unifying power of music and the enduring strength of our shared heritage,” the statement noted.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Aborah, the festival achieved its core objective of using music as a tool for unity, creating a peaceful, inclusive and celebratory atmosphere throughout.
Following the success of the inaugural edition, organisers have assured patrons that next year’s Michael Adangba Legacy Music Festival will be bigger, more vibrant and even more memorable.
