President John Evans Atta Mills has advised Ghanaians to uphold the unity of the country and eschew actions that would divide the nation.
President Mills was addressing the nation on the first day of the year 2011 which was broadcasted across the country on Saturday morning.
In the President’s New Year message, he asked all Ghanaians to give thanks to God for His grace and mercy to witness 2011.
President Mills acknowledged what to him was the most memorable moment of the past year, which was the commissioning for the start of oil production in the country.
He was particularly grateful for the presence of the two former presidents, Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor.
The president reiterated his commitment to invest in the development of the nation.
