The Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has denied claims by the Daily Searchlight newspaper that President Atta Mills is putting up a mansion at Regimanuel Estates at Asanfra Street on the Spintex road.
The Daily Searchlight reported in its Monday, 15th August, 2011 edition that President Atta Mills must be doing well financially for putting up a mansion in just two and half years in his administration.
According to the newspaper’s report, the building has several rooms and the latest of comforts to be added to it and currently nearing completion, is another mansion at the back of his exclusive residential section of the Regimanuel estates.
But Speaking on Dwaso Nsem with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Adom FM Monday, Koku Anyidoho admitted that the construction of a house is on-going at the piece of land behind President Mills’ estate house where the First Lady, Ernestina Naadu Mills lives. The new building, he maintained, is not a mansion as the Daily Searchlight reported.
He explained that the building is for the accommodation of security personnel who work for the First Lady, Naadu Mills.
‘It's a little comfort, the extension is for security personnel who guard the house, I’m sure just one property in the vicinity will not disturb the ecology system in the estate’ Koku Anyidoho added.
He noted that the building is more like “a boys quarters” for the security personnel who work at the first family’s house.
Koku Anyidoho maintained that the building was originally built for residential use, but since security personnel are always detailed to the house, it is important to get a place of rest for them.
The Communications Director said the cost of the building is funded by the Directors for Regimanuel Grey Estates, Mr. And Mrs. Botwe.
