President John Mills will resume his projects inspection tour on Tuesday. He will be at the Ashanti Region where he will inspect ongoing projects and commission finished ones.
Ahead of that visit, residents of Kumasi are urging the administration to commit more funds to road projects that have stalled for some time now.
The projects under construction are the Sofo Line and the Asokwa interchanges which were started by the New Patriotic Party administration.
Luv FM’s Elton John Brobbey who has been to the $80 million road interchanges which have been abandoned since November 2010, reports that workers are back on the projects.
He explained that the projects were suspended due to “intense financial pressure” which crippled the Chinese company working on them.
But the residents are appealing to the President to facilitate the construction of the road.
Joy News’ presidential correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng, spoke to the Regional Minister Kweku Agyemang Mensah who reiterated how crucial the projects are to the residents.
He said the President will inspect the project and will direct the next line of action - one that will make the residents very happy.
He said the interchanges remain key construction sites for the residents and believes the president will not renege on his responsibility to finish the interchanges.
The regional minister believes the projects that have gone on in the region over the last two years, are enough to sway voters in the stronghold of the opposition party to the ruling party.
According to him, over 317 projects, including class room blocks, teachers' accommodation, libraries, etc. costing around GHS54 million have been started and are at various stages of completion.
These projects, he said, are enough to change the minds of moderate residents and floating voters to vote for the NDC.
The president is expected to visit the Asantehene where a durbar will be held in his honour, and cut the sod for the construction of educational projects, Kwame Boateng stated.
