Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac will hold talks with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Thursday for the technical advisor job.
The 60-year-old arrived in Accra on Monday night and can only meet officials after Wednesday’s must-win 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo in Lome.
Rajevac will not travel with the team which leaves Accra on Tuesday morning to the Togolese capital for the match.
The former Qatar coach leads the two-man shortlist but must agree on terms with the GFA.
If no deal is reached, Danish trainer Flemming Serritslev will be talked to.
Rajevac had a successful two-year spell with the Black Stars between 2008-2010 during which current head coach Kwesi Appiah was his assistance.
Affectionately called Milo, he reached the final of the maiden CHAN tournament in 2009 and was losing finalists to Egypt at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Angola.
His high performances include reaching the quarter-final at the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals.
