CHAPTER 9
GRANDMASTER
Inside the professor’s house, Inspector Kwesi stared in astonishment at the way the interior decoration of the house was been made. It had the painting of all the art work been done by Mr. Amon Kotei. To the left side of the corridor, the professor had put the coat of arms in a small shelf which was sealed. He studied the shelf and knew how to break the code but first he needed to understand something, something he was not taught at the police training school. On the shelf was a text. The text seemed to hover in space, casting a jagged shadow across the Plexiglas.
“The ritual and death, 535.” The inspector whispered. “What does this mean?” he asked himself. He moved to the books that had been arranged on top of the Plexiglas and opened one. He was confused as he read acknowledgement.
“First of all I like to thank our god for this wonderful knowledge he gave me in writing these secrets of the Ghana society. Mr. Oliver, the writer who brought the excitement of symbology and neurology to the general public, secondly, my thanks goes to Mr. Oscar, my close friend for the help he offered me………..” the professor knew all these people.
Then he jumped to the preface of the book “this book tells the secrecy behind the unknown and the known in Ghana……….” Suddenly the front door opened, the inspector could hear voices of young people. As he hid himself somewhere, he patiently waited for his quests to show themselves. As Julia and Edward moved into the room where the inspector was, Edward sited the Plexiglas and the inscription on it, “the ritual and death, 535.” He was shocked.
This was the number on the piece of paper which had skipped him. He called Julia, “my father had this inscription on a piece of paper he was holding, but there is something about this one, there was no “the ritual and death” Edward said.
Julia came closer to keep pace with Edward.
As she stood close to the Plexiglas she already understood it. “Edward” Julia said, “The ritual and the death is the same as 535. The explanation is simple; the HEIROS GAMOS is a tradition or let me say an occult group. They have a tradition of perpetuating symbols and human minds based on riches and freedom, one thing about them is for sure, sexual activities. They believe strongly that their occult symbols could be exposed indirectly to the public to always get the chance of worshipping their gods.” She looked at the Plexiglas again.
“Like the illuminati?” Edward asked as he looked around the room. “Yeah, sort of”, Julia concluded. The inspector clapped his hands as he came out of his hiding place. Julia panicked and went behind Edward.
“I am very pleased to meet with you, I am inspector Kwesi, the one handling the investigation concerning the death of the professor” extending his hands to greet Edward.
“But I taught the case was over, how come you are still investigating on the issue?” Edward asked the inspector. Julia remained silent as she stood behind Edward.
The inspector continued, “you see, the HEIRO GAMOS were very powerful people and they are still powerful, one of them helped me to attain this position that am still holding and they can take it from me anytime. My mind was not certain as to the arrest of the Vice Chancellor; I still want to find the reason why he killed the professor.”
Julia moved from Edward’s back and made it to the Plexiglas. “ the HEIRO GAMOS, believe that Mr. Alyson and his male counterparts converted the idea behind the coat of arms that Mr. Amon Kotei brought out, by paying an amount of money to Mr. Hamilton, the man who was a linked to Mr. Amon Kotei and the castle.” Julia said.
Edward was lost now. “You mean Mr. Alyson is a member of the HEIRO GAMOS?”
“Yeah, he was” said the inspector. “Basically he was the grandmaster to the cult.”
Nobody could deny the enormous support the modern political parties had from the HEIRO GAMOS. Their influences to the political parties and the Supreme Court had made them above the law in Ghana. The Heiro Gamos published books that promoted their crafted works. They also contributed to the book that arguably could be called the most blood-soaked publication in human history.
Malleus maleficarum- or The Witches Hammer- indoctrinated the world to “the dangers of freethinking women” and instructed the men how to locate and protect their heritage in the society.
“So where is the paper you read from?” the inspector asked him as he came closer to him. Edward was now full of himself and knew he had the power over the inspector, “you want the information, play it cool and get it” that was the theory Edward wanted to play now with the inspector. Forgetting that information was not to be hidden from the police.
“ You have no option but to tell me, if you refuse to, the law will have to deal with you, putting you in the category of non-patriotic” been threatened with this, Edward just told him. “Is with my father, the doctor of the clinic where the professor had died” Edward said in shame. The inspector picked out his phone and made a phone, “you have to come with me”.
Doctor Franklin sat in his bedroom, watching the piece of paper, now he had inscribed something in a note book trying to make some sense out of the paper, “The eagle and chicken story has got nothing to do with the coat of arms”. The doctor said. He took a piece of paper from his pocket and inscribed the numbers on the paper, 535. Then he remembered something he had read in the history class about numbers and what they stood for in the hermetic hidden writings of the Egyptians.
Numbers were the basics from which the idea concerning the source of alphabets as known in the history of the local people who used the language. They believe that people will one day live by numbers and their names will not be considered as their numbers will be, with this idea, they made all their writings symbolic to numbers. Like recently in our world, everything is all about numbers, our ID cards, National Identification Cards, our passport, visas, and the most important things that make life meaningful. The number “535” could mean different ideas as “chaos and hatred” or “truth and ………”
As he sat on his bedroom to go over the paper, he heard a knock on his front door; he knew it was his son, Edward. As he climbed down the stairs, he mentioned Edward’s name. “Edward, is that you”. Feeling a sense of guilt, he moved to the door only to see an old man in tattered cloth. “Can I help you sir?”The doctor asked in fear.
“Those who want to find the truth will always welcome people into their house, believing they want to know what they know” the old man said.
Doctor Franklin was shocked to hear the man talking about the truth. He looked at the old man as he felt a sense of bewilderment. “I was supposed to be the grand master of the Heiro Gamos” the old man said in a cool voice. The doctor had heard of the HEIRO GAMOS and had never wanted to hear of anyone speak about them, nevertheless, their grandmaster. “Sir, I am sorry but I can’t help you” the doctor said.
“I guess you did not see the entire broadcast,” the old man said. “The coat of arms is merely a symbol of national representation, there is more to it and I know you want to get a better understanding of it, let me enter and I will tell you more about it?”
Doctor Franklin had nothing to say now than to throw in the towel. He opened the door wide enough for the old man to enter. “How did you know I was interested in the coat of arms?” the doctor had asked the old man who was hanging his jacket on Doctor Franklin’s wall. “I did not find you, you found me”. The old man sat down. Dr. Franklin was confused but bothered himself not to ask any more questions.
Seated on the divan beside the old man, Dr. Franklin drank his tea and ate some bread, feeling the welcoming he had offered the old man who claimed would help him. The old man was beaming as he drank his tea, his legs straightened as he relaxed.
“The heira Gamos was founded in the early 1947 by the first ever known albino in Ghana. He was someone you could not predict his actions and always won his actions over other people. About fifty years after the formation, his son Gamos ascended the throne with more powerful ideas more than his father. Many other rich people joined him, and because of their money, they were able to influence the ruling party, the white government. They wanted to help the local people to attain freedom, so they empowered some of our men to struggle for independence for the nation; this was done in a frantic way which brought a lot of joy to the people of Ghana”.
Dr, Franklin was somehow confused, “what about the Nkrumah and his people?”
The old man smiled and looked at the face of the doctor. “History is always written by the winners, losers have no place in the writing of effective history” the old said as he sipped his drink.
“Dr. Nkrumah and his followers knew nothing about the HEIRA GAMOS, all they knew was that there was a group which was financially supporting them, can I get some bread and some more of the coffee?” the old man said.
Then, there was a knock on the door.
“Please give me a second that must be my son” Edward entered as the door swung open.
“Good afternoon dad” he entered as Julia followed, then the police man.
“Hope everything is going on well with you?” the inspector asked him.
“Yeah I am fine” he responded in a surprised way.
As they saw the old man, they all greeted him and took their seat. “Dad, is that you father in the hall?” Edward asked as he smiled.
The doctor was also smiling, “no he is here to educate me more on the mystery we are trying to solve here.” they moved to the hall, where the others were. The inspector had already seen the paper and was looking at it, busily, the old man was saying something about the texts on the paper.
