Members of Parliament (MPs) on the Minority side have queried the leadership of the House over delays in handling a complaint it brought against Director of Communications at the Castle.
In November last year the MPs petitioned the Privileges Committee over what they said was Koku Anyidoho’s uncharitable description of lawmakers from the opposition.
The Minority is demanding to know when the issue will be put before the House for discussion.
“It’s not as if on the side of the NPP we don’t have people who can talk like Koku Anyidoho. We do have but we don’t feel that it will be civil for us to be responding to the Presidency in the manner that he spoke to us. If you’re not careful we can also unleash people on him who can also speak to him the way and manner he spoke to us,” Minority Chief Whip, Mr Opare Ansah told Joy News' Sammy Darko.
Mr Ansah said a statement on the issue had delayed in coming, emphasizing that “we haven’t as yet seen a report of the Committee on Privileges nor have we seen any indication in today’s business statement that anything is going to happen next week about it and that is why we are worried,” he indicated.
The Communications Director at the Presidency reacting to a comment on an Accra-based radio station described the leadership of the Minority as “an irresponsible lot and a group of bellicose, whimsical and capricious people."
But with the Privileges Committee having the powers of the High Court, the issue was referred to it to handle.
