Enterprise Computing, a technology organisation, together with Microsoft Corporation has introduced a digital insurance solution in the African market.
The app addresses challenges in the industry which leads to significant revenue losses as a result of issuance of fake insurance policies and certificates. The app also introduces convenience by allowing customers to purchase and verify policies from their phones.
With smartCover, the policy issuance and payment become a fully digitized functionality. Agents can onboard new customers, generate quotes, receive payments and issue certificates with all parties receiving notifications in realtime. Reconciliation of motor sticker sales have become a fully digitized process thereby eliminating revenue losses as each sticker issued is digitally tracked.
For customers of insurance companies, an artificial intelligence feature, a chatbot allows them to interact with insurance companies at all hours instead of the usual working hours. Sticker purchased can be verified from the app as well as claims initiation.
Speaking at the launch event, a participant from the insurance industry, Mr. Rommel Lartey was excited about the features of the app such as the USSD which makes it possible for users without internet to conveniently use the app.
Other participants spoken to, were impressed with the QRCode, chatbot and Dashboard features of the app.
The head of Sales for Enterprise Computing, Mr. Michael Odame Tutu said the key features of the App being the digital tracking of motor stickers and certificates will save the industry millions of cedis which would have otherwise gone into the hands of wrong people. He added, “the USSD option we have included in this App will enable law enforcement verify stickers to help solve these challenges”.
Microsoft’s cloud Architect, Ifeanyi Aneke in his presentation impressed on participants from the insurance industry on the need to innovate quickly through digitization as a way of remaining competitive as well as increasing market share.
The CEO of Enterprise Computing, Mr. Jake Oyortey spoke about how car manufacturers such as Tesla would in the future disrupt the insurance industry as they had real-time data on driving habits of Tesla drivers and could from that determine the appropriate premium for each vehicle owner. This he indicated would be the trend as more vehicles gradually become part of the “Internet of Things”. He also cited examples of telecom companies now becoming major players in the financial space.
smartCover runs from Microsoft Azure platform as a cloud service.
