The Chairman of the Mohinani Group, Mr. Ashok Mohinani, has been honoured with the prestigious Trade Excellence Innovation Award at the Millennium Excellence Awards 2025, held at the historic Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The award which was received on his behalf by the CEO of the Manufacturing Division of the Group, Mr. Rafael Pires, recognises Mr. Ashok’s outstanding contribution to trade, industry, and innovation across Africa.
Under his visionary leadership, the Mohinani Group has grown into a leading multinational conglomerate with operations spanning manufacturing, consumer durables, recycling, retail, and hospitality. It has major operations in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, as well as international trade and service centers in Dubai, Hong Kong and Mumbai.

Notable brands under the Group in Ghana are Polytanks Ghana, Masco Foods which holds the KFC franchise in Ghana, Somotex Ghana, Electromart, Somoco Ghana and Somochem.
The Group is widely acknowledged for its commitment to sustainable practices and forward-thinking business strategies, with its current sustainable project being the operationalisation of an rPET plant in Ghana and Nigeria aimed at closing the loop for bottle-to-bottle recycling in Africa.
Acknowledging the award, Mr. Ashok expressed his gratitude and dedicated the honour to the hardworking teams across all Mohinani Group subsidiaries.
“This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our people and our unwavering belief in the potential of African enterprise,” he said.
The Millennium Excellence Awards, one of Ghana’s most respected honours, celebrates distinguished individuals and institutions whose contributions drive national and continental progress.
This year's ceremony was graced by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and patron of the awards, and brought together a distinguished audience of royalty, government officials, and business leaders.
