Moneygram International and its partner banks this week donated over 2,000 exercise books to Hedzranawo St. Anthony R/C Basic school and Denu R/C Basic School at Denu in the Volta Region.
The donation, which is part of the 2012 Moneygram Gear Up for School Promotion, would enable the students have free exercise books for their academic work.
This donation is a continuation of last year’s book donation campaign where Moneygram donated over 8000 books to eight schools in the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western regions.
Presenting the books to the two schools, Mr. Gabriel Wilson, Regional Marketing Manager for Moneygram said Moneygram continues to support education because it is a key enabler in accelerating development.
He said “There is a large amount of research that indicates that education is positively co-related to development. Additionally for us in MoneyGram, our consumer insight studies indicate that education is a prime motivator for remittances. These donations are thus an extension of our posture towards education. Wilson urged all pupils to take their studies seriously so as to justify the sacrifice and fees paid by their parents.”
The Head teachers of the schools thanked Moneygram for the donation and promised that the books will be distributed to all pupils at the School to help them have access to adequate exercise books for the academic year. They also urged parents to monitor their children’s progress and communicate their concerns to school authorities to ensure a successful future for their children.
