Ghanaian female Afro-pop musician, Noella Wiyaala, known on stage as Wiyaala has said that female musicians are not frontline artistes because they are lazy.
“Let’s be strong and daring and stop being lazy, it’s just laziness,” she said.
She was answering a question on the assertion that female artistes in Ghana have been consistently sidelined making the industry a male dominated one.
The ‘Make Me Dance’ singer said, “It’s not a male dominated industry, I think it is simply a mentality but when it comes to business that is where I say we have equal opportunities so we women should stop complaining.”
“We are given the opportunities but we are not daring enough, we seem to be comfortable with being at the back, that is one thing I have observed,” she noted.
The singer and song writer said, most ladies rely on facial beauty and their body with the assumption that it will sell them.
Wiyaala was adjudged Best Female Vocal Performer at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
