The mother of one of the member of the Spoken Word Church who are living in the Oyibi Forest on the outskirts of Accra has appealed for state intervention to rescue her daughter.
She believes her daughter and the other members of the church have been brainwashed by the founder of the faith, Pastor Daniel Neville.
Members of the Church have been living in the Oyibi forest for close to two years.
Among other reasons, the church members say they are living in the forest because the world outside the forest is as sinful as the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah.
Some members of the congregation have left their relatively well paying jobs and are now surviving on a mushroom growing business in the forest of Oyibi.
They have been living in tents mounted in the bush.
They told Joy News' Manasseh Azure Awuni the bush offers a solemn life of grace, of peace and less sin.
But the distraught mother of a young woman who has abandoned her job and now lives in the forest wants the state to intervene.
The woman who wants to remain anonymous said her daughter, like others in the forest have been brainwashed and need to be rescued.
According to her, she has been sick since her daughter's boyfriend introduced her to the Spoken Word Church seven years ago.
She described Pastor Daniel Neville, head of the Spoken Word Church as a "fake pastor" and wants the police to get him "arrested."
Meanwhile, a Missionary with the William Branham Ministry in US, the church which Pastor Neville mentions as the foundation of the Spoken Word Church, has condemned the decision by the Spoken Word Church to isolate itself and settle in the forest.
Rev. Abraham Morton Bruce Junior, says the action by the church contradicts the teachings of William Branham.
He explained the late William Branham was a Christian for all churches and is known to have attended different church services.
He said at no time did Branham preach seclusion, adding the decision by the Spoken Word Church to live in the bush can only be the work of an "anti-Christ"
Cutting away from families is an "anti-christ" behavior.
