Thirty-five members of the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region have received motorcycles from government to facilitate their work.Officials hope the supply of the bikes at no cost to the beneficiaries would end persistent lateness to assembly meetings.District Chief Executive, Samuel Kwadwo Appiah-Kubi, handed over the motorcycles to the legislators at Akomadan. He believes the era where assembly members in the district spent several hours and sometimes days to access their electorates and attend assembly meetings is over.According to Mr. Appiah-Kubi, some communities were cut off from the district and made it difficult for assembly members to reach them.He is happy that problem has been resolved now with the handing over of motorbikes.Presiding Member, Thomas Opoku, commended government for honouring its promise. He told Nhyira FM he and his colleagues now have no cause to complain, except to give of their best to the people they represent. The occasion also coincided with the inauguration of a caterpillar bought by the assembly. Kwadwo Appiah-Kubi believes the caterpillar has come on time.About 90 per cent of roads in the district are not tarred. Reshaping has always been a problem. He is optimistic that with the caterpillar, the assembly can work on those roads periodically without difficulties.
