Foot soldiers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been called upon to warm up and device new campaign strategies to win more souls to ensure massive victory for the party in 2008. They should also embark on massive education in all communities about the party's capabilities of annexing power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to exert good governance under Professor Evans Atta Mills to salvage the Ghanaian economy. Mr. Jagri B. Mohammed, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Zabzugu/Tatale constituency made the call at a meeting with constituency executives at the weekend at Zabzugu in the Zabzugu/Tatale District to throw light on the activities of the party towards winning election 2008. The meeting was also to accord the constituents the opportunity to interact and advise the MP and offer useful suggestions on measures that would enhance the parties progress both at grassroots and other levels. Mr. Mohammed said it was a forgone conclusion that the NDC had already won the 2008 elections and that competing in the election was only an electoral process to deepen the country's democratic process. He said Ghanaians rejected the NDC in 2000 after an eight-year-term and that the NPP was also ending its eight years rule in 2008 to alternate power to the NDC and appealed to members of the NPP to handover power peacefully in 2009 to Professor Mills. Mr. Mohammed advised party members to stop the pull- him-down attitude and backbiting and forge ahead in unity to ensure massive victory for the NDC so that opponents could not have the opportunity to disrupt the electoral process. He catalogued his development projects in the constituency and appealed to communities that have not yet had development to remain patient since NDC administration in 2009 would embark on equitable development agenda. Alhaji Amadu Sonaa, Zabzugu/Tatale constituency chairman of the party accused all members of the NDC for being part of the party's predicament and stressed the need for compromises, forgiveness and love for the party to enable it come back to power. He said a lot of Ghanaians were suffering under the NPP, while traders were also recording massive loses in their businesses due to the frail economy and that the time to say no to the NPP was now. He said even though signs of rejecting the NPP were clear, prayers were needed to ensure that they transfer power peacefully to the NDC in 2009 and urged NDC party agents to reject bribes from the NPP to avoid rigging. Alhaji Abdulai Harruna Friday, Northern Regional Secretary of the party advised members not to foment fresh troubles to divide the party and that those interested in positions in the party should wait until nominations were opened. Some of the executives called on the national and regional leadership not to abandon ward level structures and also stressed the need to identify and use trustworthy members as polling agents to avoid rigging during voting day.
