Members of Parliament from both sides of the house have eulogised former Western Regional Minister and MP for Wassa East, Anthony Evans Amoah.
The former MP and minister will be laid to rest this weekend. He was the father of Winston Amoah, co-host of the Super Morning Show on Joy FM.
Delivering a statement on his passing in Parliament, MP for Takoradi and former Western regional minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, described the late A.E. Amoah as an exemplary public servant who served his country with dedication.
"As a man who loved his culture, Honourable A.E. Amoah wore Kente cloth. And Mr Speaker, I believe that might also have inspired the usage of the Kente cloth and other Ghanaian attire in this chamber. His leadership extended beyond Parliament, as Western Regional Minister from 2006-2009, under the administration of President J.A. Kufuor, he championed development," he remarked.
He further noted that the late MP was full of wisdom, humility, and generosity, showcasing an exemplary life of upholding the principles of fairness, objectivity, and accountability.
The MP for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira, Kofi Arko Nokoe, said it was important for one to work towards leaving a legacy.
"Indeed, the world is a stage, and we are mere actors. When the time comes and we are called to exit, we have no choice. But the good news is that we, as a people, must always strive to leave a legacy, and that's exactly what our just-passed senior, who was also in this House, did," he noted.
