The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) rebounded on Thursday, with the GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) adding 123.7 points to close at 13,040.78, as investors returned to select counters ahead of the extended Easter holiday break.
Trading data for the 7,184th session, held on April 2, 2026, showed a modest recovery after three consecutive sessions of decline, with the GSE Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) easing 12.05 points to settle at 7,893.58.
Market capitalisation increased to GH¢243.85 billion, up from Wednesday's GH¢241.72 billion.
Total volume of shares traded for the session reached 1,518,627, with aggregate value hitting GH¢13,549,559.24.
MTN Ghana leads gainers
Scancom PLC (MTNGH) rebounded from recent losses, surging by GH¢0.13 to close at GH¢5.45. The telecommunications giant was the most actively traded counter, with 432,425 shares changing hands, contributing GH¢2,356,047.06 to total market value.
Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI) gained GH¢0.04 to close at GH¢1.52, while Cocoa Processing Company PLC (CPC) added GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.12.
NewGold ETF plunges
The NewGold exchange-traded fund recorded a sharp decline, shedding GH¢43.83 to close at GH¢502.17, with 16,965 units traded, contributing GH¢8,519,332 to total market value.
Societe Generale Ghana PLC (SOGEGH) fell GH¢0.53 to GH¢5.96, while Fan Milk PLC (FML) declined by GH¢0.08 to GH¢12.90. Cal Bank PLC (CAL) edged down GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.69.
BOPP holds steady at GH¢100
Benso Palm Plantation PLC (BOPP) maintained its historic triple-digit price level, closing unchanged at GH¢100.00, with 496 shares traded, contributing GH¢49,600 to total market value.

On the Ghana Alternative Market, Intravenous Infusions Limited (IIL) recorded active trading with 249,431 shares changing hands at an unchanged price of GH¢0.05.
Market summary
The GSE-CI has now gained 48.69 per cent since the start of the year, while the financial stocks index remains up 69.86 per cent year-to-date.
Thursday’s session brought the trading week to a close ahead of the Easter holidays. The market will remain closed on Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, with trading set to resume on Tuesday, April 7.
