Ghanaian traditional musician Michael Adangba has announced the passing of his mother, Mama Kojetina.
She died on Sunday, 24th August, aged 83, after a short illness.
In a statement, Adangba paid tribute to his late mother, describing her as a woman whose love, dedication and guidance shaped her children, grandchildren and all those around her.
“A mother whose dedication, love, and guidance have shaped your children, grandchildren and people around you. May your family continue to thrive, and may your legacy be celebrated for years to come,” he said.
He further acknowledged her role in his upbringing and that of his siblings. “Mother, your influence has left a great legacy, none of us became irresponsible but have grown into compassionate and productive members of society.”
Management of his record label, Kacstone Records, also expressed their condolences. “Mama Kojetina was a woman of great strength, love, and guidance. Her influence shaped not only her family but also inspired many around her. While she may no longer be with us, her legacy of kindness and resilience will forever remain,” parts of the release read.
Mama Kojetina played a vital role in her son’s career, offering both sacrifices and spiritual support.
Michael Adangba is admired for his political campaign and anti-corruption songs. His fiery compositions, including Mampam and Dr. Lies, were widely credited with contributing to the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) return to power in the 2024 elections.
For years, his popular track Banga We Goo served as the official theme song for TV3’s flagship reality show Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB).
