Muslims across the country are today celebrating the annual Eid-ul-Fitr festival after a month of fasting and prayers.
Ahead of Thursday morning’s celebrations, the police have sent out an appeal to all Muslims to conduct themselves in a way that would not breach the law.
In a statement, the police cautioned against any act that will threaten the peace of the nation. The service also assured Muslims of its readiness to assist make the Eid-ul-Fitr incident free.
Speaking to Joy News an advisor to the Chief Imam, Sheik Yunusah Osman Mohammed said it is the duty of every Muslim to ensure that the celebration is peaceful, especially with the impending Supreme Court judgement on the 2012 election petition.
"...Muslims should celebrate the Eid in a very good and calm atmosphere [to ensure] violence-free Eid," Sheik Mohammed stated.
"With the [judgement] of the 2012 elections [petition] ahead of us, we expect everybody to embrace whatever comes out of the Supreme Court. As Muslims, we call on everybody, and non-Muslims alike, to put our country Ghana first."
