The New Patriotic Party presidential candidate has lauded Ghana’s track record of multi-ethnic and religious society with its relative peace across the country.
Speaking to some chiefs in the Volta Region, Nana Akufo-Addo dismissed assertion the NPP was prejudiced against people living in the Volta Region.
His assurances follow controversial and potentially divisive ethnic comments made by the Member of Parliament for Assin North KeNnedy Agyapong.
Nana Addo said “Ghana stands tall among nations” with a rich history of peaceful multi-ethnic and religious diversity.
The NPP flagbearer also thanked the chiefs for acknowledging him as a true son of the country assuring that Ghana is interested in peace unity and harmony among all Ghanaians.
“We celebrate the fact that Ghana stands tall among nations in having rich society in diversity, tolerance and cooperation.
“Ours is a society of multi-ethnic and multi-religious diversity who have found the wisdom to live in peaceful coexistence.
“What is left however is for the leaders of this nation to use the prevailing atmosphere of peace, unity, diversity and harmony to enhance the dignity and prosperity of every Ghanaian.
“An eccentric feature of our country is that you can find every ethnic group in every region. Ghanaians have never found restraint by the place of their birth in determining where they live or work in our country.
