Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, flagbearer aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday visited the Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region to canvass for votes for the July 8 Congress of the Party.
Nana Konadu and her national campaign team paid a courtesy call on the Bawku Naba Asigri Azoka Abugrago II, where she pledged her commitment towards the development of the area when she is given the mandate in the 2012 General Election.
She commended the chiefs and people of the area for their commitment and support when her husband, former President John Jerry John Rawlings' Ridge residence was gutted by fire.
Nana Konadu called on the Bawku Traditional Council to strengthen the peace process in order to attain uniform development with other parts of the country.
She said peace was the only tool that could speed up the development of the area.
Naba Abugrago commended former President Rawlings and his wife for their contribution to the development of the area and said it was during Rawlings' era that his predecessor Naaba Abugrago I, was reinstated as Bawku Naba.
He said the step by the government brought unity and strength to the chiefs and people in the area.
Naba Abugrago called on political leaders to take the interest of the electorate into consideration and not incite them against one another to divide the nation.
Nana Konadu later met with delegates of the Party in the Municipality as well as Pusiga, Garu-Tempane and Bawku West Districts behind closed doors.
