The New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary has expressed disappointment over the alleged shooting incident on Sunday at the party's Northern regional conference in Tamale where the Metropolitan Police Commander and a party member were injured.
Speaking to Citi News, Nana Ohene Ntow who attended the conference, expressed dismay over the incident and said it has completely overshadowed the essence of the event itself.
“I regret very much an event of this nature takes place and there is this event and that incident has completely overshadowed the essence of all that we did in the conference and for me it is a matter of major regret...” he said.
He said he spoke with the regional commander who could not even confirm what must have hurt the police officer. He was also told one other party supporter was injured gunshots.
Ohene Ntow said following the alleged shooting incidents, the key issue why the party even met is totally lost.
In another development, the new Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Haruna Suleimana Tia has apologised to the regional police command and has also visited the injured party member Issahaku Whalid, who was allegedly shot at the back.
